It's not at all a myth for some golfers for various reasons. I am 3/4 to a full club longer when drawing the ball versus fading the ball with irons/hybrids. Let's discuss. :-)

This is a good point! You will hit irons and hybrids farther with a draw because the club face is closed, and the face is presented with less loft. Adam Young and Jon Sherman had an interesting podcast discussion on this topic, actually...

With a properly fit driver, you'd have a lower lofted driver to hit a fade with (which matches up with the open face to optimize spin) so you can overcome the "advantage" of a draw through equipment.

We tend to see less of this in the rest of the bag... I didn't get my irons bent strong because I play a fade (maybe I should have! My launch is already high), so you are correct...

It's an interesting difference. Jon and Adam basically agreed if you played a draw you could hit an 8 iron instead of a 7 iron, and it would have approximately the same ball flight as a 7 iron hit with a fade.

I'm certainly not advocating for the fade being a better shot. I'd love to minimize my fade some more (less out to in swing) but as long as it's consistent, it's all good.
